CAL-MSCS Computer Science Models of Practice Summit
Friday June 20, 2025 12:20pm - 1:35pm PDT
CS4NorCal participants will share how you can implement computer science in your small and/or rural school. This session will showcase how dedicated educators in Northern California’s small and rural districts are ensuring that students—starting in elementary and continuing through high school—gain access to STEM and computer science opportunities.

By embracing innovative, real-world models, these educators are breaking barriers and making STEM education accessible despite the challenges of rural settings. This session will highlight how early and continuous exposure to computer science is transforming students’ futures, helping them see where they belong in the world of tech and innovation.

Discover how multi-grade CS pathways are taking shape, providing students with a seamless learning journey from elementary through high school. Additionally, explore how teachers across rural counties are building strong networks, sharing resources, and supporting one another in bringing computer science education to their students.

This isn’t just about coding. It’s about opening doors to future careers, developing critical thinking skills, and proving that rural students belong in the world of tech.
