About me
Maria is a secondary computer science teacher at Maywood Center for Enriched Studies in the Los Angeles Unified School District, where she established a robust computer science pathway. Committed to providing universal access and disrupting inequities, Maria prioritizes opportunities for girls and Latinx students. Her impactful work has earned national recognition, including the 2020 CSTA/Infosys Teaching Excellence Award, the 2022 NCWIT National Educator Award, the 2024 LAUSD Teacher of the Year honor, and she is a proud CSTA Equity Fellow alumna.
